Hi everybody,

I just downloaded e16 from cvs and tried to compile it. I get an
error during the installation, make is complaining about not being
able to create the dir /usr/local/man/man1 because it exists already.

On my system (Debian Unstable) /usr/local/man is symlink to /usr/local/share/man and the aforementioned directory exists indeed.

I changed the prefix for man pages to a temporary dir to get the installation done.

Is there a way to exclude man pages from the installation? I read the
configure --help output but I found only the option for adjusting
the path.

Is there something I miss to complete the installation in a "clean"
way? Everything was ok for previous cvs snapshot of e16.8

I can only say that nothing has changed for years that should affect
installation of the man page. Maybe your autotools have been updated
recently?
You could try autogen.sh or configure with --mandir=<wherever>.
