I hope you mean you tarred the *sources*, and built e again on your new laptop...
I was hoping to avoid doing that. Frankly, I was waiting so that I could go through the effort for 17.
I have been searching through the archives and think I found someone (Alex Viskovatoff) who had the same problem.
The answer for him was to update evas and edje. I'm not sure what these are so I'll have to check this out.

You don't need these libraries for e16.
Anyway, i think you can't avoid re-compiling enlightenment because the libraries which are dynamically linked to e16 must be installed, and they may not be, and furthermore installed in *exactly the same path*, which may not be the case either. That's why support teams get many users fed up with 'please re-compile correctly our application please...' ;-)
Honestly, it's not that hard to recompile e16, it's really worth the time it takes and this list is here to help you if you have problems during compilation.
Go for it, in the same time it's a good experiment to understand better how your distro works.
