I use Gentoo with e17.
Works like a charm.

Well I had that nasty kde related font problem some 3 or 4 suse releases
ago. This gave me one more reason not installing kde anymore. Since then
I always install the gnome option. No font problem anymore.

My suse9.3 and e17 working perfectly together. I'm running e17 almost
exclusively. No reason for changing the distro.
