Seems I hit a nerve...

First, sorry, I didn't realize that it OO wasn't Java. I wasn't saying
the look had to do with Java (I could use some grammatical
improvement), but more the slowness.

Probably because it's slow and made (at least now) and open sourced by
Sun. Yeah Java isn't too bad on machines with lots of memory, but I
work on lots of machines that have very little.

I don't remember seeing such a message (I use Debian packages). Though
I have installed OO on Windows computers, I think I went mindlessly
through the installation process. Guess I should have realized by
looking at the controls (don't look like Java), but they look old
compared to other controls so I... ok, no excuse, sorry.
