Seems I hit a nerve... First, sorry, I didn't realize that it OO wasn't Java. I wasn't saying the look had to do with Java (I could use some grammatical improvement), but more the slowness.

I don't remember seeing such a message (I use Debian packages). Though I have installed OO on Windows computers, I think I went mindlessly through the installation process. Guess I should have realized by looking at the controls (don't look like Java), but they look old compared to other controls so I... ok, no excuse, sorry.
