Eloquence comes with both ./autogen.sh and ./configure
Maybe you could just run "./configure && make && make install"

(In fact ./autogen.sh is for compatibility with other modules.)

Post Scriptum:
Maybe your tries to run ./autogen.sh has killed old ./configure, delete
the folder und and unpack it fresh from the archive than.
