| At least some of this is caused by --enable-ecore-x. This option is for
| experimental/testing purposes only!!!
|
| The ecore_x versions of ecore_x_icccm_title_get/set assume that the
| internal encoding of stings is utf8. This is the case in e16 only if the
| locale is utf8.
|
| The mozilla title is ok because mozilla not only sets WM_NAME but also
| _NET_WM_NAME, which is always utf8.

I rebuilt e16.8pre2 without --enable-ecore-x option.
As a result, "Eterm -T "Japanese characters" now works normally,
and no characters are displayed on a titlebar of the dialog to
configure e16. Garbage might have been displayed on it when I
saw it. Although "emacs -title Japanese characters" still doesn't
work, I guess it is because of emacs itself.
In any case, "my" problem has been resolved.
Thanks a lot, Kim.
