I agree. I even wrote my own script for such a purpose. It's much easier to run a script that takes care of downloading, updating, compiling, and installing all in one shot. Just run the script and you're done. And I only update about once every 2 weeks or so. Is there a way to have the script download the tarballs (I'm still pretty new to the shell and scripts)? And is everything in those tarballs? It seems like the cvs has a lot more applications and libs than just those 14 tarballs.
