Quick reply. Thank you! But...
2. A worse problem than #1 is that apparently, either E17 or Entrance
break all my locale setup. All my programs show up now in english,
whereas before they were (more or less) in Galizan or Portugese.
enlightenment_remote -lang-set pt_PT.UTF-8
or
enlightenment_remote -lang-set pt_BR.UTF-8
or
enlightenment_remote -lang-set es_ES.UTF-8
or
enlightenment_remote -lang-set es_AR.UTF-8
:) (for the above 2)
I tried that already, and it doesn't work. Actually, my
'enlgithenment_remote -lang-list' throws:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ enlightenment_remote -lang-list

With no country code or .UTF-8. Which I find strange. I tried the
'-lang-set' both ways, though, and it didn't work with either of them.
Perhaps it is something in the build of the packages.
3. Epiphany, GNOME's web browser, refuses to work with the following
message: «Startup failed because of the following error: Unable to
determine the address of the message bus».
gnome's problem. we don't care. it's epiphany's job to find what it
needs. if
it can't live outside of its fluffy little gnome world - that's its
problem. :)
Alright, alright. I thought that perhaps someone would know a workaround
-- after all, Epiphany does work in the custom-made, non-GNOME
enviroment I was using prior to E17. But I'll go bash the GNOME guys
instead on this topic. ;o)
4. I use Beep-Media-Player (I assume that with XMMS will happen too) and
if I shade and unshade the main window (not the equalizer or the
playlist), the shadow cast by the dropshadow module suddendly becomes
broken, as if it were expecting another window under it.
you might have old packages - really old. beep's player window is
fine here -
shading, unshading etc.
According to the page where I downloaded them packages from, they are
from the CVS on 20060307, but I have noticed that several packages have
CVS 2004 markings. I'll mail the packager, I think.
5. Less of a problem, but a wish: Perhaps future versions of the
dropshadow module should implement a way to allow the user to specify
windows that should not cast shadows. For example, I have set up a
terminal to stay always in the background, borderless, transparent, and
displaying statistics, and it blends nicely with the wallpaper without
shadows, but looks odd with a shadow cast around it.
we might -but looow looow priority.
That you have it in consideration is enough.
Thanks for the replies again!

Hello everyone,
(The impatient shall skip the four first paragraphs... It seems that I
can't make things brief.)
I am new to the list, and nettiquette demands I present myself, so there
it goes: I am a Physics and Computer Science student who does the odd
job in graphic design. I am active in the Galizan GNU/Linux Users Group
(http://glug.es) and from that you can infere that I live in Galiza,
which is a small nation in the north-west of the spanish state. I run
Debian GNU/Linux on an iBook G4 (mid 2005 version).
I tried to compile Enlightenment from CVS quite a lot of times, and I
always found it impossible, mainly because of some obscure calls in the
code. It has been some time since my last attempt and I didn't keep a
copy of the errors, but if someone has hints on compiling for PPC I'd
welcome them.
However, I managed to find this page:
http://perso-etis.ensea.fr/~picard/debian/
Where you can see a somewhat complete list of PPC .debs. This is what I
am using currently, and everything seems to work fine enough (even
Entrance) save for the following issues (yes, this is when this mail
really begins to adress its header):
1. E17 is supposedly translated to ~20 languages, but it will only show
enlgish to me. I have tried the 'enlightenment_remote -lang-list', and
it shows the languages, and I have done 'enlightenment_remote -lang-set
pt', and now 'enlightenment_remote -lang-get' does say that it is using
portugese... But everything is still in english. Perhaps the translation
is not yet updated?

Well, I am sure this is *not* it -- I will have more issues, but this
mail is too long already. I'd wish to thank you in advance, and say that
I am very mightly impressed by the way E17 is evolving.
