I tried searching the archives for a couple of things I'd like to do.
I wasn't able to find anything relevant, so I figured I'd ask politely.
Maybe someone can give me an easy answer.

I'm a recent convert, having been an AfterStep user for something like
10 years. Unfortunately, AfterStep development has moved more towards
complexity, and the later versions are just too unstable to use. That's
a shame, because during those 10 years I'd tweaked my environment a lot.

I decided to try Enlightenment again (0.16), and I haven't looked back.
It's responsive, relatively easy to configure, and so far pretty stable.
However, there are a few features of Afterstep that I came to depend on
that I haven't figured out how to accomplish with Enlightenment.

One of those features was the ability to force a window to always be at
the back relative to all of the other windows. Essentially, the window
was pinned to the background. That let me have several windows that
displayed various system status in real time that would stay out of my
way. I could even specify that as a general characteristic based on
window title. I'm coping right now, but it would be nice to not have
to manually push the windows to the back all of the time.

Related to the above is background image and window background
transparency. The status windows I have are rxvt windows with transparent
backgrounds. Apparently that works by copying the appropriate section
of the root window. This trick doesn't work too well if you have
multiple desktops, which I've come to like a lot. The rxvt windows
use the background of the main desktop instead of the currently displayed
desktop. That's OK. I don't mind, and I just use the same background
on all of the desktops. However,...

If I want to change the background of all of the desktops I have to
do each one of them individually. Is there any way to apply a Desktop
Background change to all of the desktops simultaneously?

Is there any way to run generic commands at startup? I can't just "save"
windows because some of them are pushed from ssh logins to remote
systems.

And finally, is there a way to specify the location of the iconbox? I have
other windows in fixed positions that conflict with the default position,
but I can't figure out how to move it.
