What I do is set to remember by window class so I don't have to worry about it changing titles. That never changes. Of course things like firefox properties or the download window get affected too, but I don't have any major problems that I can't deal with.

don't give meaningful window name and class and change their title just

be using vim in an Eterm with the title set.
