files?' I take it that the whole .desktop stuff is not trivial and atm. 
highly distro-dependent. I'm on Fedora Core 4 and my menus are also 
mostly deserted. Only the KDE stuff from /usr/share/applications/kde/ is 
shown.

Furthermore, the browsing those menus, which is real slow, causes e to 
allocate lots of memory (a restart helps). I didn't take time to look 
deeper into the code, so I don't know what's causing this, maybe some 
cache file problem.
