Sorry, should have specified.  KDE 3.5.2, enlightenment 0.16.7.2.

I tried upgrading to KDE 3.5.5 (using the repository at 'deb
http://kubuntu.org/packages/kde-355 dapper main').
The problem is still there; however, it now seems to happen only with
the saved windows that are automatically re-created when I start KDE. :/

PS:  Also, this version of KDE introduces an interesting bug where KDE
and E have orthogonal ideas of how many desktops there are.  If you tell
KDE you want four desktops, then tell E you want four desktops, you end
up with 16.  (Kicker shows all of them.)  Of course, this is a problem
for the KDE team.
