A few tips:

1) First, make sure that your new compliation of E didn't install a
second copy of libraries that are confusing the dynamic linker.

2) If you ensure that you've only got one copy of the E libraries
around, you'll need to install debugging symbols for the X stuff for
that backtrace to be useful.  Make sure you install xserver-xorg-core-dbg,
libx*-dbg, and libc6-dbg.
