It would appear that on Feb 19, Joe(theWordy)Philbrook did say:
> How do I move an xclock window without closing it???
I think I have a "little" better idea of what was happening now...
I'd been trying to replicate something I'd been doing without problem
in e16... Strategically placed (and sized) instances of 'xclock -analog'
& "xclock -digital" on more than one desktop where I'd spend some time
on a single task... For example on the second desktop I have a konsole
window running alpine (preloaded by the .xinitrc file positioned by
'remember') sized only slightly smaller than full screen. There is a
little space below it where I positioned an xclock (stacked "on top")
with the top edge of the clock covering the bottom window boarder of
the konsole running alpine (but NOT obscuring the text area)... While
on the forth desktop I positioned a preloaded kaffeine at the bottom
of the screen (just barely showing the menubar...) and positioned "on
top" of it's upper window boarder was an instance of "xclock -digital".
>From which I could refresh my memory of what day it was before
deciding if it was too early in the morning to crank my music. All
virtually without obscuring the graphic I use for wallpaper on that
desktop... Mean while, the first desktop has an additional instance of
both the digital AND the analog xclocks with different window size and
position settings...
Somehow, no matter if I had selected "match only one window" or not.
every time I disturbed the size or position of a new instance of
xclock it would immediately be relocated in the remembered desktop and
{screen size & position} of the first one I'd positioned (on top of
Kaffeine's top window boarder)
Actually the xclock became less important to me when the "detour" theme
made the gadget clock on the shelf a LOT easier to read. And when I
discovered a calender gadget that can be displayed on all desktops I
no longer feel such a need for 'xclock -digital'. But this along with
the fact that for SOME reason e17 always opens positions that .xinitrc
initialized konsole running alpine about 2 & 1/2 inches diagonally
lower and to the right of it's 'remembered' position, serves to show
that I, obviously, do NOT understand how to use the remember function
properly...
Is there a good gently worded how-to that covers what each of the
advanced remember settings are actually for, and 'when to use them'?????
