red bg: (half transparent red, seems pink on b&w, sorry!) means you cannot get the "selection", it is an X system to have a single token and control who has it at a given moment. Should not be a problem if no other systray is there. the current code expects the gadget can grow inside the shelf, there is no code to clip contents, so autoscroll and others will probably not work.
