Hi everyone, I am very happy to announce that we have a new application ready for you at http://l10n.gnome.org to help maintain the translations. As you know,'l10n' is a short form of 'localization', the application's name is 'Damned lies' and is developed by a person named Claude from gnome.org. It is used by gnome to maintain its translations and accepted by most people working with it. Using this appliaction, we can make our work more efficient. Here are the advantages: 1. Easy access. With a user friendly web UI, more people can join the work easily. As far as I know, most translators working on projects like gnome and kde are not developers, but they can work on localization and internationalization happily using their web UI. 2. Easy approach. The web application is designed for making our work easier. Everyone can register and upload their translated files, leave comments on each separate file, and , of course, get the latest template files from it. Translators will not need to generate the template files from the source code manually. It can also show the progress of each program in every language with graphics, which can make it directly perceived through the sense. 3. Easy maintanance. Users registered on the site can join a team freely as a 'translator', and every team will have a 'coordinator', whose position can be applied for in this mailing list. As we are at the very beginning, we need your hand for support. If you want to start a team and maintain your own language, speak out without hesitation. A coordinator can decide the role of each user in his team as 'submitter','reviewer' or 'translator'. Suggestions and questions from a coodinator will be considered to be more important. Even if you don't have an svn account, it's also welcomed and others who have the access will happily help you submit the files. The application is developed mostly for gnome.org first. When it comes to us, we need to make some changes. Now, it's ready for use, but there must be things awaiting to deal with. Your suggestions and discussions are most welcomed. We will try our best to fix bugs and reply your questions. They are Mekius and Claude. Mekius is the guy's nickname in fact, he is a maintainer of our Enlightenment project, who has done the most work on the installation and making changes; Claude is the developer of this 'Damned lies' web application as I have mentioned before, he has offerred a lot of help while we are installing and configuring it. What's more important, he has made the 'Damned lies' a generic application so that we have the chance to use it. Come on, everybody!
