Kim,

Thank you for the links. I will get it sorted. The hard part is
learning were
to look to find the answers beyond google "best terms that don't always work"
:p

I also have another somewhat embarrassing question. I have built both
e16 and
e17 with --prefix=/usr/local/{e16,e17} respectively, but I cannot figure out
how to start them in the alternate install directories. (it's one of the
forest for the trees issues). The hangup is where to specify the path
information so everything runs out of the new directories. starte16 and
enlightenment_start don't seem to have switches for something like --
config_dir or --install_dir that will work.

Logic says it is some type of ~/.xinitrc or xsessions issues, but I am
week
on the X startup sequence. With X itself, you can specify an alternate install
directory to run from. I need to find the way to do that with e. Any
suggestions or a couple of "Start your favorite X desktop for -- Dummys"
links?

I've got a couple more, but I submit them as their own threads to keep
the
list archives straight.
