Hello. I use both e16 & e17. Actually most of the time I think e16 is more
fun. Especially when I've also got XFCE installed and can bind a key to
xfrun4 in lieu of an e16 run prompt...
But there is one shortfall that bugs me a little. With e17 I can
bind <ctrl>+<alt>+<delete> to a logout (with 1 confirm against fat fingers)
This works with e16 as well, but with e17 I can also bind
<ctrl>+<win>+<alt>+<delete> to logout && system halt (powerdown) also
with one pop-up confirm to prevent fat fingered mistakes...
This is very useful when I get a phonecall and have to leave ASAP. (I
dislike leaving my pc running when I'm not home...)
But with e16 it seams that the best I can do is to quickly do the logout.
Then when my console session resumes (I'm a startx user) I can do another
<ctrl>+<alt>+<delete> to trigger a shutdown -r now, and WAIT around for
the reboot to start to hold the power button until the pc finally shuts
off. Then drive a little faster... (OK so the actual time lost is usually
small. But when that "phonecall" is actually my lady calling me for
supper, (and the expectation that I'll spend some time with her instead
of my 'puter {which she sometimes thinks I love more than I do her...}
every second hurts.
I've considered finding out (again... I do dislike having CRS) where the
console three finger salute is defined and make it point to shutdown -h now
instead. But as a multi-distro/multi-boot user I switch from one Linux
installation to another so often via the three fingered reboot that having
to wait for everything to go dark and then stretch or stand to reach the power
button would be even worse...
So anyway, My question is: IS there a way in e16 to bind some key to a
working clean powerdown function. Preferably with a confirmation box, But
if necessary, I could add an uncomfortable fourth modifier key to the binding,
to make it physically unlikely that I'd hit it by mistake. I mean it's
fairly certain I wouldn't manage to accidentally press a _FIVE_ fingered salute
like <shift>+<ctrl>+<win>+<alt>+<delete>. But I don't have a clue what I
could bind it to that would do the job. Is it even possible???
