well go off to another box, ssh in, attach gdb to e, then let e continue. do
the same got X server, dbus daemon - in fact any process u may suspect of
crashing (to find yourself logged out could be e - but X is just as likely - in
fact more likely as e tries to catch its crashes to present you with a white
box of death - x doesn't). when you find your display frozen - next day, check
your gdb sessions and see who triggered, why, where, what etc.
