This issue came up before and it was decided that it shouldn't be changed. It is now a real problem for me because I'm using two monitors with different vertical resolutions. X can handle that fine. Part of the rectangular X screen is not available on the monitor that has a lower resolution. So far so good.
The problem comes in when I try moving windows from one monitor to the other. I've got a button on the default window border to toggle max vertical size. My plan was to simply hit this button after moving a window from one monitor to the other to cause the window to vertically span the screen of the new monitor because e16 is smart enough to resize to the vertical size of the monitor, not the vertical size of the X screen. The problem is that once I toggle the max vertical size of a window on monitor A, I can never toggle its max vertical size on monitor B because the window always jumps back to monitor A! This basically makes toggling max vertical size useless in the situation where it is most needed. I think it is important that toggle max vertical size never affect the horizontal placement of the window. ISTM the vertical stuff should never touch the horizontal coordinates and the horizontal stuff should never affect the vertical coordinates. Oddly enough, toggling absolute max size does not have this problem. Also, the problem is not 100% reproducible. After playing around with max size toggle, the max vertical size toggle started to work properly but then broke again then started working again. But AFAICT, if I open a window, toggle max vertical size, move it, then toggle max vertical size again, it always jumps horizontally to where the max vertical size was first toggled.
