tried connman? there is a connman module for e and connman should technically
allow things like usb data modems to work etc. i don't know if the connman UI
in e17's connman module allows you to set up config - if needed. (long ago you
had to dial special numbers via modems and set up ppp passwords and lots of fun
- but that may have changed by now. i haven't played with any such modem in
recent times).
