Must have been old elf libraries. Deleted old everything, recompile/install and 
no problem. Thanks!

New issue, I searched but couldn't find anything about this. Maybe a known 
issue, maybe not. Settings Panel, Fonts,clicked enable custom font classes, 
then advanced, then selected Menu Item, Enable Font Class, FreeSans font, big, 
apply. This changed the menu font fine. If I repeat this process and try to 
change the font size back to Normal, after I hit apply e seg faults. I can 
recover, but can not change the menu font size without deleting the 
/home/user/.e directory ( only way I know to get back to default ). Debian Sid, 
amd64.

Don't remember this being a problem before.
