What modules are you using?
1. If you use the comp module then your cpu usage will be higher.
2. If you use comp with software rendering then your cpu usage will be 
even higher.
3. If you use the net module then your wakeups will be very high. Unload 
the net module if you are on battery.

In either case, try unloading all extra modules and see if e still has 
high cpu/wakeups. Typical number of wakeups without net module here is 
in the range of 1/sec or less.
