On my system E17 is installed using the package manager (emerge on
gentoo linux), which uses svn. In order to test your patch I have edited
a copy of the ebuild to apply the patch.

After installation of the modified package, I confirm that the
Temperature gagget is finally working for me. I had to set the hardware
to "udev", though.
