weird. efm uses the FDO config for this and will even modify it too:

~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list

that file lists mimetypes and the associated tool - can you check what this
says and see that after you changed it in the gui OR used open with... etc.
that it was changed to have the mimetype of the given file list the app next to
it?
