I agree with you about world dire, that's why, for example,  I heat my 
home, I cook, I heat my hot water with wood since 1977. Biomass / wood 
is neutral for  global warming.
  I didnt wait  Kyoto and Doha.....  :-)   Otherwise the best energy is 
the energy that is not consumed => good heat insulation, if possible but 
very important, consumption of local products/food, etc...

I think dpms may save screen life, perhaps, I'm not sure. The notices 
diverge on the question.
