Happy Christmas to you too and all enlightenment users and especially hard
working devs! :-D
As I understand it the pop up is to allow you to have a quick glance into the
directory, to decide if this is the one you want to dive into. If so, then
you double click it to enter it. In other WMs you don't have this feature and
you *have* to enter the directory before you know if that's what you wanted to
do.
I am not sure if there is some shortcut to allow you to manipulate the pop up
itself - I haven't found any.
