This was a bug. I've committed a fix about it.
You may want to toggle the parameter 'BackArrow sends Del (instead of
BackSpace)' in the settings under the Behavior tab.
The default config works with the terminfo files for xterm that upstream
provides. If you are using old versions or your distro patches them,
then you need to change that setting.
