I wouldn't expect the "fix animation bug" change to cause something like that but not much else has been changed between 1.0.15 and 1.0.16.
Any chance you could bisect the problem? And please give me some more info like e16 configuration, Xorg version, and more precise instructions about how to reproduce (which music player, anything in particular to trigger the problem?).
