I am not sure if this is a good idea; since the WM has to deal with scaling. Some other users, including myself, use 1x2 or a 1x3 virtual desktop. How would you solve that problem with a single background? I think it is ok the way it is. If you have any ideas on improving the user's productivity, let me know. I am all for it.
