You will need to set the DISPLAY environment variable for xrandr to
know what display to connect to. You can do that with
export DISPLAY=:0.0
You may need authentication also, in that case point the XAUTHORITY
variable at your .Xauthority file - it's most likely in your homedir,
so something like:
export XAUTHORITY="/home/username/.Xauthority"
