I have efl and elementary 1.16.0 and enlightenment-0.20.0-rc.
I build them with configure and make install. The base OS is
Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty.

This very same thing happens too me. It is really strange because I
install the exactly same enlightenment release in some other computers
and they work fine. It only happens in my main PC.

I can use any application, but not those that come from E. Like
enlightenment_filemanager.

I rebuilt enlightenment making sure all the previous libraries were
removed. I did make uninstall and manually removed any e* file and
directory in /usr/local : includes, libs, share, cmake ...

I tried to disable hardware acceleration. Which is not easy when you
can't reach the settings panel. I removed .e dir to do so. But it didn't
fix it.

I also tried installing evas_generic_loaders-1.16.0 and
emotion_generic_players-1.16.0 . I am not sure they are necessary
because without them everything compiled the same. It didn't fix it
anyway.

My VGA is Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics
Controller for what is worth it.

Please let me know if there is something I can do to help.
