Methinks he knew the state of his pants. What he needed what a totally different feature letting you know if your camera is in use... E already lets you know if your microphone is in use. Click on the mixer and in the popup You'll get an extra mic VU meter. It also will have an icon next to it for which app(s) are using the Mic. Something to tell you if video devices are in use might be useful. But of course you might just have become too comfortable in your chair working at home and forgotten if your pants are on or not, so the pants gadget can let you know at a quick glance. As the pants gadget also sets $PANTS accordingly, you could have any apps ort scripts you run adapt to the state of $PANTS at the time.
