I said I would not be a bother, but I seem to have spoken untruthfully. I'm trying to compile Enlightenment. EFL built sussessfully despite various warnings and worries, and installed. The good news ended there.
Python-EFL did not build with any of the methods listed in the README. It says there is no python. I have a load of python on the machine, though the executable is python3. Can I safely substitute python3, or is there some other python needed? (Sometimes I think I spend half my time downloading kooky pythons for one thing or another, but the only python executable in my PATH is python3.) Thought I'd try something else. I did not find a configure script in any of them. Trying meson in rage, I ended up with meson.build:17:9: ERROR: Dependency "elementary" not found, tried pkgconfig and cmake libelementary is installed. I have /usr/share/elementary. I have ~/.elementary. I have /usr/bin.elementary_codegen, /usr/bin/elementary_config, and /usr/bin/elementary_perf. I can find no other package containing elementary. I am loath to mess around with my PATH environment variable unless I'm sure it's safe. And I am at a loss. Meson and ninja are new to me; I'm familiar with configure and make. Nor have I encountered elementary before. I tried autogen.sh and got the elementary error again plus: WARNING: Running the setup command as `meson [options]` instead of `meson setup [options]` is ambiguous and deprecated. ERROR: No such build data file as '/home/dep/download/enlightenment/rage-0.4.0/build/meson-private/build.dat'. The command I used was: meson setup build --prefix=/opt/enlightenment from within the rage-0.4.0/ directory. I'm running out of guesses. -- dep Pictures: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/depscribe/album Column: https://ofb.biz/author/dep/ _______________________________________________ enlightenment-users mailing list enlightenment-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/enlightenment-users
