libgphoto2 relies on the camera firmware to support a remote capture & control protocol. Many manufacturers intentionally cripple their cheaper cameras' firmware to force you to buy more expensive models to get remote capture support :-( Nikon and Canon DSLR models are the most comprehensively supported. Old Canon point-and-shoot models also had it, but Canon now cripples all their point-and-shoot cameras > Is there a special reason for this? The libgphoto website has a list of cameras known to support remote capture and control of settings here: http://www.gphoto.org/doc/remote/ Best to stick to that list if you absolutely need remote capture and control.
