I've been discussing some ideas with Manuel and the ultimate goal is to design a full featured animation program, not just basic stop-motion capture (there are applications that already do that, like stopmotion, luciole, and others).
Keep in mind that a complete stop motion program is a quite complex product with lots of features: Not just onion-skinning but also a full-fledged timeline, x-sheet, control curves, motion paths, lip-sync, grease pencil, re-shooting, etc. That probably falls far beyond the scope of Entangle, and having such support would mean to re-purpose Entangle completely, turning it into an animation program.
