Hi Will, Many Thanks for your rapid response.
It does help a lot. I did get the alerts for the unit 1 (and others) when I'd originally set the threshold (to 40% then increased to 50%). However I didn't include them for brevity. I think the confusion on my part arises from: 1. The use of the percent symbol when relating to temperature. 2. Me assuming that setting a threshold of 50% actually meant 50 degrees (C)! The units obviously report on their actual temperature, so how does that relate to the threshold percentage, and what would be a "safe" value to use? You are correct, the Release Notes (RNs) should include the C2H124-48 / 48P and the B2H124-48 / 48P as supported platforms for the this functionality. We will correct this in the next release of the RNs. As far as the condition that you are seeing, it looks like you may have set the threshold too low and switch 5's operating temperature is fluctuating below and above the max threshold. This indicates that 50% is near the normal operating threshold for the switch. You should consider increasing the thermal threshold higher than 50% to reduce the flapping between the two states. In your deployment it looks like both switch 1 and 2 have tripped the alarm threshold. You should have gotten an alert and a syslog event when the threshold was crossed on those, and you should see another one when the threshold returns below the max threshold that you set for each of the switches. Hope this helps! Thanks, Will _____________________________ William J. I have a mixed stack of 2x C2G124-48 and 4x C2H124-48P. I recently upgraded the stack to 05.02.02.0009 and set the temperature threshold and alerts with the command: set system temperature syslog enable trap enable overtemp-threshold 50 Since then I sporadically get the following events, but only for unit 5 in the stack. I get a lot of these in a burst, but then nothing for several hours. According to the release notes, support for High temperature alerts was introduced in 05.02.01.0006, but only for the devices listed (i.e. not C2H124-48P). "Added support for protecting the health of the switch based on predetermined safe operating temperature limits. The administrator can change the maximum temperature threshold where a trap and syslog message is generated warning them of high-temperature conditions before service is affected (only available on C2G124- 48/48P, C2K122-24, C2G170-24, and all C3s.)" Can anyone help me understand what is going on here. I don't think I've misconfigured anything, after all, it's only one command! As always, your help is very much appreciated.
