Hi there,
I wonder if anyone has had issues with the POE controller resets on DFE
blades?
We have an N5 chassis with the following blades:
Slot Model Serial # Versions
------ ---------------- -------------------- -------------------------
1 7G4202-30 XXXXXXXXXXXX Hw: 0
Bp: 01.00.15
Fw: 06.11.01.0040
2 7H4385-49 XXXXXXXXXXXX Hw: 0
Bp: 01.00.15
Fw: 06.11.01.0040
3 7H4385-49 XXXXXXXXXXXX Hw: 0
Bp: 01.00.15
Fw: 06.11.01.0040
5 7H4385-49 XXXXXXXXXXXX Hw: 0
Bp: 01.00.19
Fw: 06.11.01.0040
The POE controller on blade 5 keeps resetting, interrupting power to our
phones. These resets happen at random, we can go for months then have a
couple of resets the same day. We've had these problems for some time now.
Data flow on the blade is not interrupted and we have no entries in the
error log, we simply loose POE. The blade has already been replaced, which
points towards something site specific, I've a few ideas.
I've noticed that you now have "show port cablestatus" on the SecureStack
series but there does not seem to be an equivalent on the DFE?
Is there any way we can find out why the POE controller decides to reset?
The only way we can think of narrowing this down is to gradually move
devices connected to that blade, to another and see if the fault moves,
gradually eliminating the cause. However, because of the random nature of
the fault this could take many months to narrow things down.
We have about 20 devices drawing power, and the power usage of each device
tallies up with the device type.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mark Lamond
