TY for yor responses,
I first used, on my DFE's, the command: set igmp enable .... , but I get extrange behaviours on my LAN, like connections timeouts or lossing packets from other networks. At this moment I'm using this command to avoid mcast traffic: Set mac multicast ..... I´m using this with a NLB-Web-Farm and runs fine over a N7. In a few days I'm going to make the installation of a four-leg-array TMG Server (old ISA Server), so I'm really interested in this theme, cause three legs of the TMG array are connected in a B3G over different VLANs each one. Is there any additional config or consideration at this point? Should I config anything else concerning with tagging or egressing on ports? Regards. In NLB multicast configuration, you had 2 choices: - with igmp snooping - without igmp snooping Enterasys doen't support igmp snooping in NLB multicast design The major problem with NLB is that there is no traffic sourced by the vmac (virtual mac) of the VIP NLB. So, there is a natural flooding for the traffic with vmac as destination To use NLB in multicast mode on your network, you have to follow this step: - add a static arp entry on router with the multicast mac for the VIP (virtual ip Adress) NLB o the arp answer from the NLB with the multicast vmac (virtual mac) is generally mark as incomplete in ARP table because we have a unicast IP address with a multicast mac address -> that's why we have to put this ARP entry in static - don't active igmp snooping on NLB as it's not recommended by Enterasys - to stop the flooding o add the multicast vmac to the concerning port in static in the mac address table § it's like a manual igmp snooping You can contact me directly to have more information on this point regards, Benjamin MAZE Network Engineer - Network Integration / secu Dimension Data France Tel: +33 (0) 1 49 75 86 26 Mob: +33 (0) 6 60 25 66 78 [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> DIMENSION DATA FRANCE, Orlytech, 20 Avenue Louis Blériot, 91550 Paray Vieille Poste - France (adresse postale 91781 Wissous Cedex) For further information about Dimension Data, please go to http://www.dimensiondata.com <http://www.dimensiondata.com/> P Before printing, think about the environment ü ________________________________ From: Sylvain Conti [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: vendredi 26 novembre 2010 16:11 To: Enterasys Customer Mailing List Subject: RE: [enterasys] NLB Hi, Regarding multicast handling in the same vlan.
