Peter Smillie posted a new comment: I believe that this is the same problem that is reported firstly in the Debian bug tracking system https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=574144 and secondly in the Samba bug tracking system: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7259 . According to the Samba bug report it was fixed in Samba V3.5.2. The bug still exists today in the latest Samba V3.4.7 build for Ubuntu Lucid Linux.
