Question #250889 on samba in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+question/250889

actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
In Trusty, gksudo isn't in a default install and sudo has finally been
added to polkit so is how you run GUI apps with extra access now. Gksudo
isn't part of Trusty after you do a clean install from CD.
