Probably this question is a bit OT here, but i'm confused and i hope
that someone can at least point me in the right direction.

I work for a nonprofit organization for disabled children, and i use
extensively filters ''system wide'', mostly squid and squidguard.
But they are totally ineffective for searches, expecially for google
images.

I've found that Google have a solution, eg 'Safe Search'. One can:

a) enable it in their google preferences; clearly not system-wide. ;)

b) add/rewrite URL, adding to every query '&safe=strict'; good, but
totally ineffective because BigG is moving all to SSL, and handling
SSL 'MITM' with squid is a bit a pain...

c) alter the DNS, pointing *google.* to 'forcesafesearch.google.com'.
Less good, because if i need to access some content blocked by
'safesearch', how can i do? It is hard to whitelist...

Considering that Firefox is the browser of choice of my organization,
there's also some 'browser-based' configuration i can do? Eg, define
only one search provider ('safegoogle'?) and configuring it to use only
the safesearch method, better if b)?

Or there's other search providers that are more ''safe
search''-friendly?

Thanks.
