Therefore Windows is official (!) supported since Firefox 40RR. Therefore Firefox 45ESR seems to be the first official Firefox ESR release for windows 10.
In other words when you plan to migrate to windows 10 now, firefox is already supported!
I don't know exactly but I think before Firefox 40 there were some problems regarding setting firefox as standard browser.
