The Register has a report today about Mozilla looking into possibly supporting some of Google's Pepper API for plugins (PPAPI) - see:

Support for Google's PDF viewer (pdfium) and Pepper Flash player are mentioned - although timescales for Pepper Flash are not mentioned at:
