Firefox 45.5.1esr equals the Firefox 45.0 consumer Firefox, but with
added security patches. It does not get any new features, so it seems
likely your version of Angular Material is using features that Firefox
45 does not support.
You may verify that by downloading the regular consumer Firefox 45 and
check if the component is working there. If it's not working there
either I'd suggest adding a workaround in Angular Material to support
the Firefox 45esr line, which is still supported until June 2017.
