Hello All, In case you did not see the our public communication about support for Windows XP and Vista, I wanted to call the following blog post to your attention: [1 <https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2016/12/23/firefox-support-for-xp-and-vista/> ].
Copy of the blog post: > *In approximately March, 2017, Windows XP and Vista users will > automatically be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release > <https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/> (ESR).* > > *Firefox is one of the few browsers that continues to support Windows XP > and Vista, and we expect to continue to provide security updates for users > until September 2017. Users do not need to take additional action to > receive those updates. In mid-2017, user numbers on Windows XP and Vista > will be reassessed and a final support end date will be announced.* > > *In the meantime, we strongly encourage our users to upgrade > <https://www.microsoft.com/windows/xp/upgrade-options.aspx> to a version of > Windows that is supported by Microsoft. Unsupported operating systems > receive no security updates, have known exploits, and are dangerous for you > to use. For planning purposes, enterprises using Firefox should consider > September 2017 as the support end date for Windows XP and Vista.* > > *For more information please visit the Firefox support page > <https://support.mozilla.org/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista>.* > In addition, for this mailing list I wanted to provide a few more specifics around these changes: - Any Windows XP or Vista user on a release channel NOT using a previous ESR and upgrading from a version prior to v52 can be upgraded directly to ESR 52.0.0 (once it becomes available); that is, their channel will be switched to ESR - Any Windows XP or Vista user on a release channel using ESR 45.8.0 can be upgraded directly to ESR 52.2.0 (once it becomes available) Further, the ESR 52 version will continue to support plug-ins, while the regular v52 builds will disable all plug-ins except for Flash (see Mike Kaply's post on this matter: [2] <https://mike.kaply.com/2017/02/02/plugin-support-in-firefox-52/>). If you have any questions pertaining to this announcement that are not already answered on the support page [3 <https://support.mozilla.org/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista>], we'll do our best to answer them. *Peter Dolanjski* *Product Manager, Firefox* Mozilla [1] https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2016/12/23/firefox-support-for-xp-and-vista/ [2] https://mike.kaply.com/2017/02/02/plugin-support-in-firefox-52/ [3] https://support.mozilla.org/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista
