Mozilla plans to support this kind of plugins in the ESR version for the full lifetime of 52-ESR. I estimate this as end of this year: It's 7 minor version updates, each 6 weeks after the previous one. Also "java web start" to run standalone JARs will probably keep working even longer, just not the plugin.
