Hi All, We *think* we've resolved this for our organisation. We've been experiencing issues like this. The last ESR that wasn't affected was v45.8. Users have been having their profiles created around a template, using a centrally stored "user.js" and "prefs.js" files, copied into a new profile folder by a .bat file. This .bat file was run as part of the windows log on script, so any changes made to either file was quickly replicated across every profile in our whole estate.
We started having the issues with ESR 52. The root cause seems to be something in the two template files. Stopping the .bat file running during the windows log on, and creating "Clean" profiles (or doing a profile reset) seems to resolve the issue. The two files were created back in 2008, and modified over time. Contained in those files are proxy settings and update settings. I suspect those are the settings that trigger the issue. During install we've started to use a .cfg file to turn off the auto-updater (we now control updates through SCCM) and to set the startup homepage to our intranet page. Firefox's autodetect is now sufficient to handle the proxy settings. So we've just stopped using the profile template. Hope this helps. Our workaround was: - save bookmarks - stop Firefox, 'task manager' shouldn't have any process of firefox - delete all files in user profile - start firefox - restore bookmarks or simply delete user profile and create new one.
