Hi,

I don't agree with you. You should be thankful to us admins and IT staff
to try to explain you why we will all progressively switch to another
browser.
We are a significant part of your user base and we tell you we are not
satisfied with your product. Plus, we explain in great details why, and we
offer solutions and proposals in a usually constructive way. Could you
dream anything better?

As an CIO I can tell you I am feed up with:
- GUI changes that make my "non IT fans" users unhappy and forces me to
spend lots of time training them and explaining the new "features"
- Lack of administrative tools to distribute and configure Firefox. This
is going to change at last. For the moment I am very happy with
"FrontMotion" who delivers exactly what Firefox should have provided years
ago (and that Chrome and IE provides.....)
- Bugs, bugs, bugs. A long time ago we talked about V cycle developpment,
tests and long tunnels. Now the fashion is "Agile", which is often a
synonym of "Messy" or "Random". We have to deal with tons of upgrades and
new versions which don't bring anything NEEDED in a corporate environment.
Most of those versions are in fact bug fixes of the previous ones.... I am
definitely old fashioned, but I loved the time when software was tested
for a long time before being released to users so that the released
version would at least be usable. Now the testers are the end-users and
releasing a version that does not even print is OK (remember this one six
month ago?)

So please, hear us, take our remarks in consideration and make your
product desirable.
Trying to mimic your competition while being already behind is a dead end.
You need to differentiate!

Yours,

Blaise

Release of Firefox - ESR60 with policy engine

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback.
You will understand that it is impossible to make everyone happy with a
new release.
Now, the goal of this mailing list is "enterprise developers, IT staff and
Firefox developers can discuss the challenges, ideas and best practices
for deploying Firefox in the enterprise".
I don't think this is the right place to have such discussion. Please move
this discussion somewhere else.

Thanks,
Sylvestre

just a long-time Firefox user who was forced to switch to the ESR channel
because of intense dislike of the new "normal channel" Firefox release. I
don't understand why Firefox had to essentially mimic the Chrome UI, which
does not support how I want to use my computer browser.

universities, businesses and others who need extended support for mass
deployments. Since Firefox 10, ESR has grown in popularity and many large
organizations rely on it to let their employees browse the Internet
securely.

work with any tool that wants to set policies and we intend to bring
Windows Group Policy support soon. We'll be initially supporting a limited
set of policies but this will be evolving through user feedback.

only add-ons built with the WebExtensions API

that Firefox 52 ESR is the last release that will support legacy add-ons.
If you developed an add-on that has not been updated to the WebExtensions
