The decision is not yet made but my company may also need to prevent Firefox
update, hopefully only for a month or two: we have many old internal apps no
ready yet and probably some of them do not work correctly on IE or Edge…

So thanks, I tested app.update.enabled and app.update.auto to false : it works,
it is required, but it is not enough:

we have also to uninstall or disable the Mozilla Maintenance Service. Typically
this works on Windows 64-bit: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Maintenance
Service\uninstall.exe" /S
(The Mozilla Maintenance Service should be re-installed when will finally
install the ESR 60.2 or 60.3)

However how can we disable the button “Check for updates” in Help/About?

You could use autoconfig and set the values

app.update.enabled and app.update.auto

to false

But, how could it be possible? I mean how to block the automatic updates?

Yes, they'll need to continue using Firefox 52 and not update.

Hello All,

We currently use an NPAPI web phone (Zoiper). A number of our clients do
not wish to switch over to IE preferring to continue using ESR 52.9 32 bit for
the time being.

Will they need to disable updates currently set to the ESR channel to avoid
prompts to update to 60.

Sincerely,
